Being
a top-ranked officer in the national police force of Indonesia may be one of
the basic criteria for assuming an office like head of the public relations division of the national police (kepala
divisi humas polri). Nonetheless, it may not be the only criterion. This is
because being a top-ranked officer does not mean that you have the required
personality for the office. There some offices that are greatly influenced by
the personality of an individual. This implies that people that do not have
such personalities or characteristics that compliments such an office are the
least considered. They only come to the picture if there is no other better
consideration. One of these offices that is complimented by one's personality
is the office of a PRO which is usually short for public relations officer.
For
one to be effective in the office of a PRO, there is need that such is more of
an extrovert and a good public speaker. This is the same even if you are a police public relations (humas polri)
officer. One of the duties of a PRO which entails giving out first-hand info on
decisions made sometimes requires that such would stand before many to speak.
It would become a major problem if one who is supposed to give out info is
unable to properly express himself or herself when addressing people. Hence,
public speaking is not trivial necessity but a highly recommended one.
