What Causes Addiction

 Their environment can also be a culprit of their addiction. Addiction is more common in areas where substance use, alcohol and gambling are permissible and highly available. If the child grew up with addicts, there is a chance that they might be addicted too, but it is not the case all the time, as some realizes the negative result of addiction, hence drawing themselves away from it.
Those who are neglected by parents can be more prone to substance abuse, alcohol or gambling. They most of the time turn to their friends, which unfortunately may not be a good influence to them.
Some of the environmental factors are:
- Joining in a sport where performance enhancing substance/drugs are encouraged
- A group of friends that promotes or uses drugs and alcohol or are involved in gambling of any form
- Ethnicity and gender can also be a cause of addiction
It is not wrong to give your children freedom, but needless to say, it is still your responsibility to guard them and ensure that their freedom won’t bring them to somewhere that can cause them harm.
