Door Handles
Door handles or doorknobs are a mechanism that is used to unlock or open a door. Traditionally, doorknobs used to be made of a spindle and a bolt but over the years these have become far better in designs and have incorporated complex locking mechanisms. These can be very cheap and the designer ones can be very expensive. Every design of doorknobs is available nowadays. You can find a poignee porte design that matches the theme of your place. These can be made out of a variety of materials. The locking mechanism is always of steel or some other hard material but the designer handle visible outside can be wooden too. Other than this there are brass, cut glass, brown mineral, white porcelain, bronze door knobs available too.
Most of the modern doorknob handles come with a lock and key mechanism already fitted in them. You don’t need an additional lock for locking down the door. However, just like traditional knobs, you can still get door handles without the lock. These can be used at places where you don’t require a lock or some of these have a room for the external lock.
Types of Door Knobs
There are five types of poignee porte design:
• Lever Latch: This is the most common type and is used in commercial as well as residential places. These have a latch that keeps the door shut.
• Lever Lock: This is another type similar to the lever latch. It has a lever along with a keyhole just below it. It allows the lock to be controlled by a key.
• Lever Bathroom: It is the one used in the bathroom that can be locked from one side and can be opened easily just by turning the knob. In emergencies, the lock can be opened from the other side too.
• Lever Privacy: It is similar to a lever bathroom that is locked from one side. Unlike the lever bathroom, there is no mortice sash.
• Pull Door Handles: These are simple U shaped handles used for doors where no lock is required such as the kitchen.
